Lighting Retrofit is the process of replacing lamps and ballasts found in a facility with new high efficiency energy saving equipment.   Normally,  T8 lamps and electronic ballasts are used to retrofit fixtures.

In some situations, the savings in electrical usage actually helps to pay for the cost of the project itself.  

Why Retrofit?  

• The facility gets new lighting with a five year warranty on the ballasts and two years on the tubes.  The facility actually enjoys a capital improvement, with the savings  in energy paying for the installation.

• Retrofitted fixtures will have PCB ballasts properly removed  and disposed of.

• The facility will enjoy a better quality of light.  T8 Lamps have a higher color rendition index rating.

• T8 Lamps burn at 90% intensity for 90% of their life.  The intensity of T12 Lamps drops steadily to a level of about 60% as time goes on.

• The types of lamps will be standardized throughout the facility.  Maintenance stock will be reduced to just a few types and sizes of lamps.

• "Strobe lighting" will be a thing of the past.  Electronic ballasts operate at 20,000 hertz vs. 60 hertz from wire wound ballasts.

• Buzzing noises that come from some fixtures will be eliminated with the uses of electronic ballasts.
